critique and (re)construction

It has been much easier to identify ways in which dominant discourses have closed down epistemological and ontological positionings necessary for researching with more-than-human persons than to actually include and acknowledge them as active co-participants in the research process. In other words, it is often easier to research about, than to research with or through an animistic ontology, perhaps because to research with requires both an openness to the possibility, and disruption of the privileged place of rationality.
