I am encouraged by the many theorists in areas from organizational change (e.g. Margaret Wheatley) to ecofeminism (e.g. Vandana Shiva), quantum theory (e.g. Amit Goswami) and educational research (e.g. Kevin Kumashiro) who suggest that many of the significant breakthroughs in change theory are coming from beyond mainstream, often Western and scientific, ways of understanding the world. Certainly development of the concept of bioenergy fields, for example, has been held back by scientific skepticism for quite some time (Milton, 1996).
