continual critique

Similar to any research that relies on insights gained from human observations and interpretive insights, research conducted in communication with animate Earth is situated (Haraway, 1991b; Nolan, 2005), and necessarily subject to ongoing critique. And like any research, this critique needs to take into consideration the epistemological and ontological assumptions undergirding the work.

Perhaps one of the best ways to judge the merit of the work is in terms of its effects, or catalytic validity (Lather, 1993), rather than how it "maps onto our usual ways of making sense" (Lather, 2001, p. 205).
