science & spirit

Capra (1975/1991)* suggests that:

Eastern thought and, more generally, mystical thought provide a consistent and relevant philosophical background to the theories of contemporary science; a conception of the world in which scientific discoveries can be in perfect harmony with spiritual aims and religious beliefs. The two basic themes of this conception are the unity and interrelation of all phenomena and the intrinsically dynamic nature of the universe. *The Tao of Physics (from which this quotation comes) was first printed in 1975. In 2000 it was reprinted in a special 25th anniversary edition. Discussions about the relation between quantum physics, spirituality and ancient knowledge systems are ongoing and are not about to be resolved here (e.g. Laszlo, 2008; Peat, 2005).
