is not
a lifestyle choice. 

Imagine that I can be
(and speak) who I am.

 Ok.
I LOVE LAND.
and I talk with trees,
rocks, 
pelicans,
grasses.

And they speak back
to me.
Sometimes unsolicited.
walking
  down a tree-lined street
  they just
            start up
  a conversation. 

THERE. I’ve said it.
    It’s out there.
I am out.
of the closet.
where I have been hiding
for generations. 

while this culture
takes its turn
  ravaging
