the 'S' word

At a presentation of this research at a seminar a couple of years before its completion, I spoke mostly about my connections to Land, art and embodied knowing. One of the participants suggested, "you are really talking about the 'S' word, aren't you?"

After a presentation to a graduate student seminar in South Africa, six months later, a student came up to me afterwards and said: you are talking about spirit, aren't you? (I had not used the 'S' word in my presentation).

Why has it been so difficult to speak the "S" word?

Why is it still difficult?
